le 19 mai 1931 \u00e0 Letchworth, dans le Hertfordshire. L'environnement de son enfance et son service militaire l'ont fa\u00e7onn\u00e9 avant qu'il ne commence une formation artistique formelle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Letchworth et la Royal Air Force<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Smith a grandi \u00e0 Letchworth. Il s'agit de la premi\u00e8re cit\u00e9-jardin au monde. Il y a v\u00e9cu de 1959 \u00e0 1961 gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 une bourse Harkness. L'\u00e9nergie et la culture commerciale de la ville ont fa\u00e7onn\u00e9 sa vision artistique.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Il a m\u00e9lang\u00e9 des \u00e9l\u00e9ments de la peinture Color Field avec les principes du Pop Art.
